My dear Daughter
Your tender words and the other signs of your mindful affection have not been lost upon me. I am not easy without telling you so and blessing you in these inky characters as well as in my heart.
But I am ill, dear -- have been hindered from using my mind effectively for several weeks, and I am obliged to leave the great goodness of many friends quite unacknowledged. I should like to know how your health is. You say nothing about it.
