My dear Figliuolina
The sad account of you brought me by Mr. Newton 286 before we left town haunts me more and more importunately. Are you better? Pray, if you can, write me a few words to assure me of that happier fact. I cannot bear to think of your not having been able to sleep without that insidious Chloral. Tell me that you are sleeping naturally and well. Or if there is only bad news to be told, let me know, that I may sympathize with what is actual, instead of imagining your circumstances falsely.
