Dear Mrs. Strachey
It is very sweet and good of you to remember my appeals to your sympathy and to take trouble in consequence. But I am happy to tell you that friends have united in providing for Miss Marks 325 the means of preparation for entering Girton College, and the prospect now before her is altogether hopeful.
If I hear of any other young creature fit and anxious for the excellent office you mention I will send word of her.
My poor husband is in bed with a sharp attack of lumbago, which I hope will be short in proportion to its sharpness.
We miss you. I am rather jealous of the babies, and wish that the "Mitwelt" had a larger share of you. 326
