My dear Mr. Browning
Your goodness has not been lost upon me -- neither the words that came from a heart acquainted with a like grief, nor the act which will remain a precious remembrance to me as long as I live. I am not at all well in body 174 and have not yet ventured to see any friend. But it is a want which I must satisfy, just to write these feeble words of gratitude.
Ever yours with affectionate memory
M. E. Lewes.
