Beloved Achates,
Have I really written exegesists? I can hardly believe it because this travesty of the right word seems as if it were quite strange to my eyes and hand. If I have it is only another proof that my brain is a very wishy-washy material -- that the ideas are like the imperfect crystallizations from thin salt and water. ex'eag'eat'eas is the Greek word meaning an interpreter, expounder. It is very vexatious if I have allowed such a blunder to pass. But I must say in a more humble sense than Pilate "What I have written I have written" 607 -- only I think some of my queer t's have been taken for s's. But I am a numskull and there's the end of it.
Your eyes are brighter than ever I know when they look at your real live little nephew. 608 I heartily rejoice with you for your sake and eke for papa's and mamma's.
