Dear Achates, 592
I did not receive thy parcel until Friday afternoon, for what reason I know not, and as I intended to send mine the next morning I did not think it worth while to write. I hope you received my parcel on Saturday evening -- I sent it to the Railw[ay] in the middle of the day.
Am I to translate the Prefaces 593 -- with a murrain to them! If so you must please to send them me for I have never had that part of the German edition. The printers are very scurvy, detestable people for keeping us dragging on so long with their far-between proofs. I did not see your initials at the end of today's but I judged from your marks that you had checked the Greek and the figures. Was it so? If not please to notice in the revise, for I have not done it, though I can in future if you like, as I am idle now. Please to remember the German from 512 to 545. 594
