Tuesday.
Dear Sara
Pack up your trunk and come to London on Friday (or Thursday if you can) and then on Saturday we will go to Ockley near Dorking, where are staying Miss Julia Smith, 340 Barbara Smith and Bessie Parkes.
They invited me and Mrs. Chapman to go to them and I am sure they -- at least Miss Julia Smith -- would be more pleased to see you than either of us. I had a packet of invitations this very morning and it struck me that here was just the thing to make it worth your while to come to London and see the Exhibition and do other pleasant things. My only fear is that you may hesitate to leave the two children. 341 But surely Mrs. C. Hennell and Cara might manage with them, for a week.
I would not be an expensive journey for you -- only the railway to London and back. Don't say nay, but come like a good Gemahlinn.
I shall write to the Ockley party to-day 342 and tell them of the probability that they will see you.
