Monday Morning.
Dear Sara
On Saturday I was correcting proofs literally from morning till night -- yesterday ditto -- so I have been unable to earn my week's penny-worth. The Review will be better than I once feared, but not so good as I once hoped.
I send the enclosed autographs in the hope that one or two of them may be worth putting in your collection. I suppose the weather has chilled your charity as well as mine. I am very hard and Mephistophelian just now, but I lay it all to this second winter. 300 We had a pleasant evening last Wednesday -- Lewes, as always, genial and amusing. He has quite won my liking, in spite of myself.
What do you think of the last Vagabond Letter? I am extremely glad not to be acquainted with Yseult 301 -- she is only a degree less insupportable than the Vagabond himself.
