East Sheen | August 24.
Dear Sara
I want to tell you that we shall have two copies in our possession of Herbert Spencer's Principles of Psychology, so that if you do not like to pay 16s/. for a big book on spec., we shall be able by and bye to lend you a copy. Mr. Lewes is nailed to the book by his interest in it. 621 I have not had time to do more than glance at it.
You will be sorry to hear that H.S. is out of health; he is gone for six months' holiday to France. 622 I hope you are well and enjoying the beautiful weather.
[Goethe] and all other things are going on swimmingly. I think it a charming book -- and next to my own things I am perhaps least inclined generally to be satisfied with Mr. Lewes's. I picked up the other day this old note of Dr. Arnott's, and I thought you would perhaps not be sorry to have it among your autographs.
Ever your affectionate
Marian.
I think of you so often.

Signature

Marian.
