My dear Sara,
I think yours a very sensible proposition about the quotations from Josephus etc. It has always seemed to me nonsensical to give so much Greek except on debateable ground. You are an invaluable creature to me and save me a world of anxiety. Do you mean that there are 26 quotations in the part already sent to you or throughout the whole work? If Dr. Brabant would take the trouble to give an English version of the notes Strauss and I shall be much obliged to him, but do not urge it if there be any symptoms of the reputation ague.
I do not want the [groups] and [devils] -- I sent for them merely that work might be dispatched. Are not Mr. and Mrs. Hennell coming? 533 If they are you shall have the rest of the miracles and the Transfiguration 534 by them.
I thought of you very much last night as I was driving home under the serene light of the moon, Mars and Saturn. Do you not feel how hard it is not [to] give full faith to every symbol?
