My dear Sara
When Louis Blanc saw Mr. J. Morgan's Transparencies, he said "Tr'e8s beau; mais il y manque l'impr'e9vu." 652 That element is so abundant everywhere except in Mr. Morgan's Utopia, that there is no saying absolutely what will have become of us in "three weeks or a month." But "sauf l'impr'e9vu," we shall be where we are, and very glad if you will retire out of the world to us as often as you are inclined to do so. Harewood Square adjoins Blandford Square and is within reasonable distance of "everything," so that it is an excellent place to dine and rest in, and go out again from, to any evening engagement.
I say no more, because I don't know what friends you may have made arrangements with, and Mr. Lewes and I have a great horror of perpetually changing pre-arrangements, unfulfilled expectations, and all such waste of human energies. We are almost always at home and almost always alone, so that when you are inclined, as I said, to come out of the world, rest in an easy-chair and warm your toes at a good fire, you will find what you want with us. -- I am much comforted to have a hint that business is looking up a little. My love to all.

While I have been writing to you, Mr. Lewes has been seeing a solicitor about a house, 653 and made one step nearer taking it. But in any case we shall not move till the December quarter, I believe.
