Dear Sara
I made almost sure of a letter from you this morning telling me at least where you would lodge at Sydenham -- but no letter is come.
I don't want to be a troublesome friend, too urgent with my propositions; but if you would like to see me, I am anxious you should understand that I will leave nothing undone on my part to further our meeting under the most propitious circumstances. I only wish we had so little business and so many bedrooms that you could have made our house your home.
If you approve, and, having lodgings at Sydenham, would let us know where they are, we should set off by an early train on Monday, reach Sydenham at 10.20, and spend the time with you in the gardens or elsewhere till we took our places. And I hope I need hardly say, that any time you could give me at our own house, away from more attractive pleasures, would be a welcome treat to me. Mr. Lewes waits to carry my letter to the post. I hope it will be in time to catch you before you set off. But I think your disinclination to letter writing must be getting to the point of serious disease.
