My dear Sir,
You will be anxious to know how the printing of Felix Holt is going on. Vol. I is gathering. Vol. II is on the Machines up to Sig. K. 467 and the whole of it will be on to morrow. Vol. III one-half of it will be printed by Saturday afternoon.
We had a small instalment of M.S. yesterday barely making 16 pages and have not sent it out in proof, expecting more according to Mr. Lewes' promise to day, but which has not arrived.
I see the Advertisement very well displayed in the Monthlies.
As soon as last revise is returned for press we shall let you know when we can undertake to ship to London. Meantime, now the Magazine and Periodicals are off, I am watching progress and seeing that no hitch occurs. One Machine broke its Crank shaft yesterday and 3 "Printer" Boys ran off to Sea on Monday but that I could not help.
Mr. William will doubtless have told you with what joy I heard of his happiness. 468 I cannot imagine a choice that would be more agreeable to yourself, and I feel assured the union will be a source of great comfort and satisfaction to your families. I have long wished in my heart to see him well mated, and I now hope to see him and her enjoy years of happiness as perfect as can be realised on this Earth. . . .
