Horwicz. 440 Problems. Prof. Preyer 441 of Jena to lunch. Drove him in the Park to show him "the swells." Called on Mrs. Geddes. Went to a conference of physiologists at Burdon Saunderson's: 442 Huxley, Sharpey, 443
Pavy, 444 Marshall, 445 Humphry, 446 Ferrier, 447 Lauder Brunton, 448 etc. It was agreed to form a Physiological Society and I was asked to be one of the Council. 449 The question was discussed of what steps should be taken with regard to the Vivisection Report, and it was agreed to let the Government quietly understand that we would not oppose a Bill framed in the spirit of that Report.
