Wundt. 238 Finished revision of Problem I. Went to Oxford on a visit to Jowett. Bowen and Lord and Lady Lansdowne the other guests, but at dinner and evening, each day there were several interesting people. 239
Lord Ramsay, Sir H. Maine, Henry Smith, Cannon Liddon, Lady Claud Hamilton and her daughter, Mr. Abbott (paraplegic), Mr. Esquith, Mr. Tatton, Mr. Symonds, Mr. Gore, Two Japanese, Mrs. Pallavicini, Mr. Roper, and others. Very pleasant talk and some good stories. . . .

Called on Henry Smith, Rolleston and the Pattisons -- at the latter house saw Nettleship, Neubauer, Jefferson, Mills, Thursfield, etc. Went over the Museum with Rolleston rapidly.
Monday 3 May 1875
But this morning at 4 Polly awoke me with the painful news of a fresh attack of her stone. The pain lasted till 6.30 Then she got better and we came home.
Tuesday 4 May 1875
Polly became very unwell at night though without return of the pain. She stayed in bed all day. I sat with her and wrote letters. London Library and called on the Calls whom I drove in the Park. Then sat the rest of the day with Polly.
Wednesday 5 May 1875
Polly better this morning but not well enough to get up. Read Wundt, Menschen und Thierseele. Problems. Walk in Park. Dr. Clark came to see Polly at 3. Went to Chemist's and drove in Hyde Park. Found Polly up on my return. Read Scott's Poems to her. D'fcntzer Charlotte von Stein. 240
