GHL Journal, Petersthal, 15 June 1868
MS: Yale. Hitherto unpublished.
Monday 15th.
Our enjoyment encreases. The beauty of the place with its varied and ravishing walks, its agreeable water and baths, good food, and perfect repose, added to the soft bergluft and the perfect weather make life without a wish. We rise at 6. Drink waters and walk till 7. Breakfast in open air. Ramble and read Morris's [Earthly Paradise] 772 -- Bathe, drink, ramble. Table d'h'f4te at 1. Cigar and rest till 5; walk till 7. Light supper, brief ramble and bed at 9. To-day my headache prevented my bathing so during Polly's bath I wrote to Blackwood and journalized.
