MS: Mr. Gordon N. Ray. Endorsed: From Mr. George Henry Lewes.
The Priory, | 21. North Bank, | Regents Park.
May 1873.
I have known Mr. Edward Pigott very intimately for more than 20 years, and known him as a man of high honor, fine taste, and universally agreeable manners. His unusual accomplishments and his unusually amiable disposition, seem to me to constitute rare qualifications for the position of Secretary to such an Institution as the Royal Academy.
