Text: Quoted by Stahr in a letter to Alwin Stahr, 26 February 1857, Aus Adolf Stahrs Nachlass, Briefe von Stahr . . . , ed. Ludwig Geiger, Oldenburg, 1903, p. 190.
We read with delight your second volume of Torso and I have made Monti, 301 the great sculptor, happy by directing his attention to the book. He is writing a history of Sculpture and says that, except Lessing, you are the one German writer on Art he can thoroughly admire.
