Blackbrook | Thursday.
My dear Main
Both Mrs. Lewes and yours truly have read you will be glad to hear the sheets of your Johnson and think it very interesting and very well done. Any criticisms that I might have to pass on it were I a public critic would merely affect superficial points -- in substance I should say the book was well done. Here is the Preface. Insert the number of volumes in the blank I have left. Let me see a proof. Mrs. Lewes is not flourishing.
Ever yours
G. H. L.
