My dear Sir
By this post I have written at some length and with due emphasis to Mr. Blackwood, and await his reply before sending you the proposed introduction. It seemed more delicate to say what I could say in favour of your scheme, and your ability to execute it, in a private letter than through a letter of introduction, in which moreover all praise wears a constrained official air. I have little doubt that he will gladly enter into the affair.
Mrs. Lewes gains strength though more slowly than could be wished.
The title which now suggests itself to me as better than "Thoughts and Sentences" (rather formal) is "Wise and Witty Sayings from G.E.": that is both descriptive and attractive. What think you?
We are sorry not to have your photo. Even when the photo is bad -- as mostly they are -- it serves to give imagination a steadying point. However I daresay we shall see you in the flesh some day.

Our eldest boy -- (a married man of 29, but still our "boy") was much gratified by the perusal of your letters. He takes his mother's influence to heart, for he completely worships her.
