My dear Bray
Don't say you know the authorship. Let fools and dupes continue their folly and pay for it; but don't interfere beyond the expression of your disbelief. If you are known to know, you may as well tell the secret at once, for questions will then be put to you which you will find it impossible to evade.
It was a pleasant day for us to have you with us -- and not the last by any means I hope.
Ever yours faithfully,
G. H. Lewes.
