My dear Bray
We have resolved to keep the secret no longer. In aristocratic and literary circles the conviction has become general -- and as thanks (or no thanks) to Spencer all the Garrick Club have his authority for the belief -- he having volunteered to tell Pigott that "he knew the authoress and has seen her recently" (Call you that keeping a secret solemnly entrusted to you alone?), it is hopeless for us to do anything now. So you may tell any one you please that it is no longer a secret at all; but avowed.
