GHL to Edward F. S. Pigott, Wandsworth, [21 March 1859]
MS: Mr. Gordon N. Ray.
Holly Lodge, Wimbledon Park | Southfields, Wandsworth | Monday.
My dear Pigott
You may imagine how sorry we were on our return to find your card; 435 but how could you have been so imprudent, after getting no answer from me to your note?
To make up let us say next Saturday -- if that will suit you and Redford 436 whom we shall both be very glad to see again. If Saturday will not suit both fix some other day, but please let me know in time that I may not be in town, or have accepted any other engagement.
If you come to Putney station leaving Waterloo at 2.15 we will meet you there, and walk over the delicious Wimbledon Common through the Park here. I name Putney because the price is the same and the road is so much prettier. Let me know whether this hour suits, or whether you prefer the 3.15. --
Mind both of you bring Music and let us make the welkin ring.
Ever yours faithfully
G. H. L.
