Thursday.
My dear Blackwood
You come up on Monday. Will you lunch here at 2 on 2'sday? 459 I hope you can, because Wednesday is my day in town; but if not Tuesday let it be Thursday.
"Baron Tauchnitz" 460 saw the announcement in the Pall Mall and is in a flutter. He wants to know conditions and if he can have early sheets. I referred him to you. In your place I should ask him £500. He probably won't pay that sum -- but no matter -- and if he will it will cover the disadvantage of his reprint.
Mrs. Lewes is looking forward to seeing you. Your letters lighten her depression which is very great just now, partly health, but mainly anxiety about her book. She can't persuade herself or be persuaded that what is not written will be up to the mark.
Ever yours
G. H. Lewes.
