My dear Blackwood
In vain I remind Mrs. Lewes of the piles of letters and m.s.s. you must have before you as valid reason why you should not have written. Her magnificent powers of Apprehension of all that can be interpreted into an unfavorable opinion of her work makes her convinced that you don't like Part IV and don't like saying so. Just one line therefore to disabuse her (without of course a hint of my having written!).
