My dear Blackwood
I think the modification I have introduced while it removes the offensive passage about la vierge conveys all that is necessary.
I am very weak and in want of some change; and as Mrs. Lewes can't be seduced to leave her work I am going to Belgium for a fortnight and hope the Spa waters will restore some vigour to my stomach. She continues pretty well, but anxious as ever, and till her book is finished will know no peace. May it be soon! She begs to be kindly remembered to you.
This is lovely weather at last -- if it only will last!
I met Bulwer the other day who said he was thinking of a trip up the Moselle. He was looking remarkably well.
Thornie has finished his examination. We don't know yet with what success; but we hardly expect -- nor do we much wish him to pass this year, he is so very young. He is now among his beloved Swiss mountains.
