My dear Blackwood
Tait's suggestions will be immensely useful -- I have written to thank him for the trouble he has taken in reading the proofs 181 so carefully and expressing himself so unreservedly. Even when I do not adopt his corrections they are useful. I happened to have had a great mathematician and a great scholar 182 with me yesterday and they both endorse my [insoluble] and reject [insolvible.] The book will gain greatly by such a revision!
There seems to have been a good deal of curiosity excited by the announcement of the work being in the press -- how much will be due to interest in Dorothea? Good public to be still hungry for her! The Quarterly article 183 will no doubt be savage, as their previous article was, but it will be a good advertisement and she is beyond the reach of criticism.
The Country House is not forthcoming alas!
