Dear Blackwood
Your inspiriting approbation came when Mrs. Lewes was in a very desponding mood, and rescued her -- for a time! She clings to the idea that since the poem has laid hold of you it will not wholly fail with the public. Nous verrons. I think it prudent not to print more than 2,000 at first and as I presume you will keep the type standing we shall soon see how it is likely to go.
Enclosed are the notes. The [Baron] you will see was not a prosaism but a bit of local couleur, but it was fortunate you made the remark as the same thing would occur to most people and it has produced an interesting note. 751 Don't refrain now from mentioning any other point that admits of alteration.
I should like to see your Dogbook -- it may be serviceable to Ben. 752
I asked the Pall Mall to put in a paragraph.
