My dear Blackwood
From the postscript of your letter today I infer that you have understood to your disadvantage our arrangement about "Felix Holt." We meant all rights whatever during five years to be included, and not simply the copyright in England.
From America you ought to get £300 (that was the sum given for "The Mill" by Harper). From German translation about £30. From French £20. I quite agree with you about Tauchnitz; unless he paid a handsome sum he ought not to have it -- but perhaps he had better not have it at any price likely to be paid. 450
I have given our friend Lehmann a letter to you about the German translation. He wants to purchase it for his brother 451 and will give as much as any one for it.
If you wish it I will apply to Sampson Low about the American right, though I think Langford could play off Harper against Ticknor better than I could as I shall be away and can't carry on the war by letter. 452
