My dear Blackwood
With the unusual gleam of sunshine this morning came your gleam of a letter with its checque and statement. The sales -- except D.D. at 21/- are indeed very satisfactory -- those of the Poems the most gratifying to G.E. The 88 copies of the 4 volume Middlemarch leads one to hope that D.D. will also in time get run off. Why the Jews don't come in I don't understand.
There is only one omission I notice in the statement, and that is of the advertisements in D.D.
If I forgot to say anything respecting your blunder in arranging terms for the copyright it was because after your explanation the whole thing passed out of my mind. I had not only interpreted your letter but had misinterpreted the figures of the statement of sales.
Apropos of forgets I mean to convict you of forgetting to send me back the Contemporary Review, with Dowden's article as well as of clearing up that story -- if it ever was cleared up.
We are both tolerably well but troubled in our minds with the prospect of furnishing and moving.
