My dear Blackwood
Yesterday I dined with Prof. Owen 326 and in the evening we had out the Microscope and I laid before him several of my preparations of the nervous system of the Molluscs, with which he seemed greatly interested, and said he should like to take some notice of my discovery, if possible, in the article Mollusca he is writing for the Ency. Britannica. 327 I have not a copy of Maga, having cut it up for the revision, but perhaps you would send him a copy of the last number. It will give the book a lift should he mention it.
I observe you advertize a new work by little Smith. 328 I have often been going to ask about him, not having seen him for more than a twelvemonth. I suppose he is roaming about, at Brussels or the Lakes. Has he been writing for you lately? I have not recognized him.
Ever faithfully yours
G. H. Lewes.
