GHL to Barbara [Mme Eugene] Bodichon, Wandsworth, [5 July 1859]
MS: Mr. Gordon N. Ray.
Holly Lodge, Tuesday morning.
My dear Barbara
My mother bids me bind my hair 460 -- (no not that, because I'm getting bald) Polly bids me bind myself to the desk, and write a note for her. To hear is to obey -- under penalty of a milkjug whirling in the air. --
The purport of said note is this: She wants to write to your sister to thank her for the picture; but as you don't send said picture her letter is unconscionably delayed.
Dispatch. With P's love,
Ever yours faithfully
