Dear Willie
Owen Jones 373 has come in to urgently suggest the following alterations in the title page: that the vignette be lowered and brought down to x. (the outer line being removed altogether, so as to make a vignette and not a medallion. that the Book I Miss Brooke be lowered to y. This will give a lighter and more graceful effect.
Further he and Mrs. Lewes consider the green too yellow and would prefer one of the shade enclosed -- taken from the book of specimens you sent some time ago.
We should also be glad if you could let us see a proof of the page on two papers as nearly as possible approaching the buff and yellow enclosed, so that with 3 pages before us a decisive choice might be made. 374
Yours truly
G. H. L.
