My dear Willie
We are both charmed with the design of the title-page, and also agree that the green is more effective (and less clerical) than the mauve.
[Brush] away as vigorously as you will, only don't [overbrush] it -- I mean don't come to grief in your excitement.
Yes -- the book may appear with the Magazines on the 1st. Would it not be well to insert a slip: Middlemarch Book II Old and Young will be published on the 1 February -- or do you propose putting it on the back -- before or after the announcement of the [Beauties]? 409 -- I think the slip more effective.
