November the &unknown;19&unknown; &unknown;20&unknown; 21 1859.
Dear father
I wrote a letter not very long ago to ask you if I could leaf of &unknown;En&unknown; Music but has you have not answered me I thought the letter had not reached you. I do not want to learn music any more I could get on better alone, I should practis more then I do I have not learnt much with the master who gives me lessons I dersay you think I aught to still have lessons but I shall not learn well with him I learn much better alone. Befor I had lessons of music I was allways practising but now I have lessons I &unknown;do not&unknown; only practis 2 'd7 a weak. I got on very well before I had lessons. And I shall get on now better if I have no lessons. Sunday the 20 we had a very fine consert there were meny pieces played. There was some music with 8 hands that was very pretty. The boys who played are Charles Walter Guppy and Frank Townsend. There was a small bit of a play, played by Dubois and Vallette it was in french. They did it very well and made every one lafe. We began at 7 o'clock and ended at halfpast nine. Dubois and Vallette are two French boys Dubois you did not see when you came here, but Vallette you did. The school is increesing and we have got 57 boys. The two Chapmans 486 have left and the boys are very glad for they did not like them. There is snow on the ground, and the boys go out sledging, I do not like sledging much but I like skating very much indeed. I hope you will get this letter and write to me soon.

I have not written a letter to you for some time but now I will write you a small one. I have been wating for some time for a letter from father
I wrote him one but I have not received one from him. Dear Mother I orfan think of you when I take out my knife to cut any thing. 487 I long to come to England again, it is 3 jearys that I have not seen England. 488 The books that father gave me I have read many stories out of them. I like them pretty well.
I have not got any more news to tell you. I remain your Loving Son
