Edinburgh | November 20/62.
My Dear Madam
I had overlooked the 1500 of the 6/ edition of Silas published in December/61 of which there were 820 unsold when the stock was last made up. I inclose a cheque £60 for a thousand of them and think our only plan will be to cancel the remaining 500 say when we bring out an edition uniform with the cheap one of Adam and the Mill. The Mill we propose to bring out early in December as we have fully as good a chance in that month, or rather better than in January.
I intend to go up to London tomorrow for a short visit and hope to see you both next week.
always yours truly
John Blackwood.
Mrs. Lewes.
