My Dear Madam
I write a line to acknowledge the safe arrival of Book V and the sheets for press.
There is a solemn calm as after a storm in the last book and the parting is pathetic and impressive to a degree.
I have ordered two thousand to be printed, which is I think the number we both thought of.
The correction of the heroine's name to Fedalma will be carefully attended to. The bulk of the slips had already been turned into pages before your first correction of the error arrived. You certainly wrote the name originally Fi and it is a curious case of delusion as once even in book form I observed that you had written it Fi. Our last letters crossed but I shall write tomorrow or next day.
always yours truly
John Blackwood.
Mrs. Lewes.
