My Dear G.E.
People are full of our letters and they are highly approved of. Delane 145 whom I saw last night was splitting with laughter and said, "Well if that does not choke the fools off I do not know what will."
Your idea of asking Liggins to write a chapter tickled him especially as also it did Thackeray.
Send me a copy of your letter as I wish to keep it. Be sure to do this.
I have been thinking a great deal of our conversation about the new Novel and long much to see the M.S. Ask Lewes to let me know what sort of a fellow his little friend Schlesinger 146 is. If he can put two and two together seeing our letters in the Times today he will form a pretty shrewd guess, but any amount of rumour does not signify.
