My dear Lewes
I would have written as soon as I heard that you were safely housed in Munich had I not waited until the proof which accompanies this was ready. This first paper on the Blood is technical enough but good, especially in the latter part.
Give my best regards to George Eliot and tell him that he will find me quite ready to meet his wishes by the publication of Adam Bede as a separate work at once. In whatever form the Tale first sees the light I am sure it will be an excellent thing both for the pocket and for the reputation of the author.
I am very anxious to hear how it gets on and shall be delighted to see more of the MS when ready. I would write to G.E. but I am desperately busy, having run myself into a corner for time. This you will readily imagine when I mention that I leave for England tomorrow.
I hope your hunt for Lodging at Munich has proved a successful one and that this will find you very comfortable in the Luitpold Strasse.
I am not going direct to London, having one or two visits to pay which will occupy me until the 10th of May. Let me hear from you whenever you can and I promise faithfully to give you a spell of London news.
