Georgiana [Mrs. Edward] Burne-Jones to GE, London, 23 June 1873
MS: Yale.
The Grange | Monday, June 23rd/73.
Dearest Mrs. Lewes
This is instead of another touch of the hand and spoken farewell between us all -- we felt leaving you in that way, but were sure you would prefer it to the public defection of two out of M --?'s limited circle of hearers and admirers. We reached home by 7 and 'bd and found Mr. Allingham and Mr. Sanderson 205 both here and hastened to feed them and our other friends. I do hope this heavenly weather will go with you across the channel -- and yet remain to bless us here. If it is in your kind heart and power to send me a word from any point of your journey, I shall be grateful -- but do not do it unless it comes of itself to you to do it.
We both send real love to you both -- and fresh thanks come into my mind for all your tender kindness to me. I don't feel, even now, that I have neglected my chances of coming to you -- I have done so when I could.
Good bye, dear, kind friend -- I am ever your loving and faithful
Georgie.
